Trip Description

The rugged terrain of Cattaraugus County’s Zoar Valley is home to a complex mosaic of natural communities and one of NY’s largest concentrations of old-growth forest. The first day will involve a strenuous hike descending into the heart of the canyon to explore bottomland rich-mesophytic forests, calcareous cliff seeps, cobble shores and more. The second day of this field trip will focus on the easily accessible habitats of the canyon’s north rim and adjacent upland, ranging from acidic and alkaline wetlands to xeric upper slope woodlands.

There is a limit of 10 participants for the trip but we ask you to please CLICK HERE to register and we will send you more details about the trip and the meeting place. There will be a waiting list. If you have any questions about the trip before registering, contact events@nyflora.org.
