Trip Description

The limestone forest of Joralemon Park is a hotspot for wildflowers, and puts on a particularly good show in spring. We’re likely to see trilliums (purple and possibly white), trout lily, spring beauties, toothworts, bellworts, early meadow rue, blue cohosh and early blue cohosh, hepaticas, violets, Dutchman’s breeches, mitrewort, foamflower, baneberries, bladdernut, wild columbine, golden alexanders, and other species. Ferns at this site are also fantastic (though some species won’t be visible yet). Please bring a lunch, water, sunscreen, etc., and be prepared, with sturdy footwear, for on- and off-trail wandering. We will plan on a long outing, but leaving early should be possible as the site is relatively small and easy to navigate.

There is a limit of 13 people for the trip so please register early. More details will be sent about the trip and the meeting place after registration. If you have any questions about the trip before registering, contact joralemon@nyflora.org.
